I've had clinical depression for most of my life. I've been in 12 step groups for a long time, and they are very effective. Does anyone know how to find a group in my area?

Have you looked for groups in your area through NAMI? (nami.org) They're an american organization with chapters in each state ( i think) and they seem to run online groups and in-person groups. It's a little different in Canada, but we have these sorts of resources posted in our local municipal offices, libraries, and community centers. It may be similar in your state and a good place to start. Good luck
There is a 12 Step group for depression that meets virtually via Zoom every day. It's Depressed Anonymous. I can't seem to post the link.
Hi Cashew , I started group CBT therapy 6 weeks ago as part of 12 week program at one of our local hospitals that has a mental health department ( I live in Canada). I have done CBT one on one before but it didnt really help a lot, maybe just me or not a motivational therapist. I cant emphasize how much being in a group with similar issues has been helpful. I would try searching the AMHA and if possible asking your family doctor for for access for any resources he or she may have. I have tried a lot of medications 20+ over the years TMS, but have never felt better than in group therapy where we can all relate. Good Luck and hope you find help and feel better.
