Reading /listening to books with fictional characters who struggle with anxiety, depression, and more, helps me so much.

My favorite author is Brandon Sanderson and has been since my son encouraged me to start reading his books a few years ago. The genre is sci-fi/fantasy fiction. While the worlds he writes about are very different from ours, the characters are very realistic and the stories are about their struggles to overcome their emotional traumas.

Trigger warning: The stories involve the classical struggle of good versus evil so there is lots of violence.

I’ve tried reading/listening to other authors but keep coming back to these stories over and over again because they help me so much. I don’t have much actual reading time anymore since switching from night shift to days but I love listening to the books on my way to work and while I’m winding down afterwards.

Hope posting about this helps someone 💜🦋

he finished Robert Jordan’s wheel of time series.

Haven't read Jordan. Do you recommend it?

he’s a very good story teller in regards to fantasy. rich and vivid. besides his own wheel of time series he wrote some Conan the Barbarian novels early in his career. the fact Brandon Sanderson completed his work says a lot about Brandon Sanderson.

Thanks! I'll see what I can find out in SF encyclopedia. Is Conan a good place to start? Do you know what's book one?

Gotta see if I can find it on Archive. It's old enough the publishers might not have taken it off.

I started in the mid 90s with book 1 of the wheel of time.
