How's this for a bit of nature 😀 🦊

We had the pleasure of a family of foxes last year, just took a screenshot from the video I filmed, mother bought 5 lovely young kits into the world, and we supplied her with a regular supply of fresh chicken, as well as leaving various containers filled with water, not around for breeding this year, but they are others constantly jumping onto the shed roof for some sunbathing 🥰

Wow, it is so nice that you were able to capture the moment on film.

Yes 2 minutes of sheer delight of filming them, I'm so happy catching them, between them and hedgehogs and badgers are all in my top 5 animals, horses as well, I was going to include cat's but my mums cat has " anger " issues 🤣 she decided to throw a South paw at me in bed in the dark whilst I was looking at my phone 😼 somehow I think she's not wired up right, the cat, not my mum 🤣

I love your sense of humor! Thank you for the chuckle. It made my day. I can’t say I have ever seen a badger or a hedgehog. I looked them up: They look like very interesting animals.

Even the name for baby hedgehogs has me laughing "Hoglets " is sometimes used 🤣 or piglets as well 😇

The label Hedge Hog doesn’t do them justice.

There's my boy!

Don't call me a hoglet. I'm mama's boy ❤️🦔

He is adorable! Can you keep them as pets?

Yes! He's a domestic pigmie hedgehog. He is almost 2. He's so sweet.

Oh my goodness! Cuteness overload. This intrigues me. Are they affectionate?

They are very anxious animals so you have to spend a lot of time with them daily so they can know you. He came from a breeder who hand holds them all when he is able to take them from the mom for a bit.

Herman sits on my lap. I walk around with him in my hands. I wear a bonding scarf so he can walk around my neck.

His last visit to the vet she said he was very well behaved and attributed it to all me time with him. :) He loves me

I love this! It sounds like you are a great pet parent.

Thank you for asking about him. Maybe you should get one lol. Are you in the USA? There are a few states they are banned. Can't figure that one out

Enjoy your day :)

Thank you for taking the time to answer my questions. I truly find your pet fascinating, and I learned something new today that I didn’t know. I had no idea you could have a pet hedgehog!

That is so adorable!!! I love hedgehogs, but we don't have any in the United States. I would love to cuddle one. And "hoglets" made me laugh hysterically. Love the pic. Now I want a baby hedgehog!!

There are breeders of hedgehogs in the US. From what Dolphin has told me about Herman, they take a lot of TLC and patience. They always stay babies. They’re so small. They can’t jump on your dining table and steal the steak. 😁 See Dolphins reply up there ☝️☝️☝️☝️

Right well over here in the UK they like cat food as well I believe

I would dearly love to have one! But I think a lot of "exotic pets" are banned here in South Carolina. Also I just last week lost my kitty Sweetpea to thyroid disease, so I'm not really ready for another baby to care for. But they are adorable!!

I’m so sorry you lost your Sweetpea. I get it cuz I’ve lost some pets, too. When you’re ready, you’ll find a new baby who needs you.

I’d like a Great Dane. They make a good substitute for a human companion. Best part is they can’t talk. But it’s not feasible for me so it’s just a wish.

I am so sorry for the loss of your Sweatpea. I know how difficult a loss like that can be.

Hoglets! That is funny. I get deer, opossums and groundhogs in my yard. We seem to get a few snakes too. The snakes we get are harmless, but still terrify me. Oh and one time someone’s herd of cows wandered on in! I have seen a fox or two, but the ones I have seen are smaller than the ones in your picture.

Felinity profile image
Felinity in reply to Stilltrying2

Oh yes! I forgot about the snakes, lol. Ours are usually harmless too, except for the occasional diamondback rattlesnake. Ugh!

Stilltrying2 profile image

Yes, years ago I ran across a baby rattlesnake while down by the nearby lake. It rattled its little baby tail at me. I’m not sure how much venom they have when they are that little, but I got out of there in a hurry. I figured if there was a baby, there might be a big one near by. Vacating the area was my best bet.

We had a fox family in my community this year. The babies were born under someone's shed. Your little ones, they were so cute!

I love foxes! There are woods behind my house, and I see all kinds of wild creatures wandering into my yard: everything from birds and squirrels to possums, deer, and foxes. It's kind of like having my own little fresh air zoo out back, lol.

Wow! So cool that you got to see the whole family! We have foxes in my neighborhood, so I’ll sometimes see them cross the yard. I’ve never been lucky enough to see kits in person though.
