take off all your ferrous metals and lay down in a fancy machine that buzzes and blips and scans your body part for imaging. it takes many images in layers or like slices. you may feel a slight vibration if anything at all. that’s all it is. I fell asleep during my first one.
Yup, you just lay there, you can close your eyes and sleep. I am a bit bigger of a guy so it was a little tight, but I just closed my eyes. I hope that you get some good news.
Many years ago they used to have a selection of music, it is very routine, I have been through many for all parts of the body, I had a benign tumour on my spine, could not be seen via x-ray, they thought I was 'nuts' until December 1997, a new thing, a MRI, a walnut size tumour on my spine was spotted, and successfully removed👌 Remember to get all those ferrous pieces, from the locker supplied, very easy to forget, that is really the hardest part of the whole process 👍

true. actually if it’s metal at all just don’t wear it that day before going.
I had them before. Not bad. If with contrast, you get injected with something that will give you a cool sensation, then hot. I don’t remember which one, but one of the will make you feel like you need to pee, but you don’t. I remember one time they made me drink something I picked up from the pharmacy like a smoothie. I guess it depends on what abdominal scan your doctor had ordered. Good luck!
This is just me, but if I do feel a bit nervous, it usually will subside once I think about the fact that this test could give me an answer. Like if you’ve been feeling pain or something, it could potentially tell you why, so that is usually a relief for me. Hope that’s helpful..😊
No need to worry. It can be just a little noisy, but that's all. Is it your first MRI?
I’ve had countless MRIs and imho the worst part is the noise the machine makes. Some facilities give you earphones (some with music) but you can bring your own ear plugs. The claustrophobia factor is real but keeping your eyes closed helps. Good luck.
I had an MRI of the head. It wasn't bad. I had heard horror stories. Somebody told me it helps to listen to music. However, the sound the MRI machine makes is very loud. It can be difficult if you are claustrophobic, but it really isn't bad at all.
