Brain zaps

Hi everyone,

I've shared before a little about my journey to get off clonazepam. After a bad stint I was put on daily clon and am now trying to very slowly ween off them. I'm down to 3/4 of a 0.5 pill (so .375 per night) and doing well.

Today, however I experienced what I am assuming was a 'brain zap'. I have heard a lot about this sensation when coming off SSRIs (which I personally didn't experience in my SSRI withdrawal) but not about benzo withdrawal.

Has anyone experienced the brain zaps from benzo withdrawal? Should I slow my next cut?

Thanks, big hugs to all.

Hi Weeniedoglady...I too experienced brain zaps when coming off of Xanax.

I was taken off it slowly by my doctor and yet some symptoms did persist.

Do not fear them as they will eventually dwindle. Always let your doctor know

what you are feeling as he knows your health history. Good Luck. :) xx

Thanks Agora, I actually didn't spin into panic so that was a good thing; I just carried on with my day!

That's the best way to do it. Allow the brain to heal on it's own,

in time you won't experience it any more. :) xx
