I can’t get over what I said

so it was Christmas Eve and my house was not a happy place. My father was not in a good place and screaming at everything that moved, I knew deep down that it was because both of his parents passed years and years ago, but still I was heartbroken. I know thats selfish and I already felt bad about that but the way he spoke to family and how hurtful he was being just snapped me. I couldn’t hold it back anymore and just started sobbing. He walks up behind me starting to suddenly apologize and tries to put an arm around me and out of anger I just snap back “don’t touch me!” and kind of went off, he looked so hurt…later on we had a talk and hugged and from that moment he hasn’t been that way since but that moment is just lingering and eating at me.

that’s beautiful that you were able to hug and resolve the emotions. I can understand both your fathers and your feelings.

It sounds like he didn't realize how his behavior was effecting you until you snapped. I hope he is more considerate going forward.

It may have been a break through for your dad. He may not have realized how his actions were affecting everyone around him. You may have helped him so don’t feel bad. It ended in hugs and that’s wonderful.

I really don't think you did anything wrong.

I feel for him and it's sad he wasn't in a good place.

But regardless he's still responsible for his behavior and he wasn't treating people nicely.

Who would want to be touched then?

It sounds like maybe it ended up about as well as it could have. You don't have anything to feel guilty about in my opinion.

Sounds exactly what my son and I went through a few days ago. He's newly diabetic, and it couldn't have come at a worse time, (Christmas), with all the spicy, fruity, sugary things that he now has to be careful of, and he had a go at me. So I told him a few home truths back, and left him to it in his man cave!

We forgave each other later, I understand, he loves his food!. The weather hasn't been helping either as he can't get the excercise he needs to keep his bloods in order. When you depend on someone, (he is my carer), it can get frustrating for everyone in the family,

Cheers, Midori
