I was just thinking how accurate some phrases are....

Like "gut wrenching". Many people use that phrase casually, but i suspect it is actually quite appropriate for people with anxiety. I have actually felt like my intestines (guts) were being twisted (wrenched). It is unplesant and exhausting. There must be other phrases too.

"No pain, no gain". Often used among people that exercise. While you may feel temporarily uncomfortable pain, pushing through (courage, determination, willpower, ect...) it leads to longer term benefits and greater strength.

Much as the physical body becomes stronger in this process, so to can the mind. I am proof of this. The pain I have felt has indeed made me more resilient, and stronger. In that regard, I am grateful for it. The phrase holds up in my case.

After some research into it, I learned that such a philosophical idea goes far back to Greek philosophers even, so guess there is something to it. Even Benjamin Franklin was a believer in the phrase, and expressed it in one of his writings.

The weight of the world on my shoulders. That's a phrase that I remember well.

This is one is pretty good for me as well, because I actually feel heaviness in my shoulders when I am going through a wave of anxiety.

Interesting. I spose the phrases all started for a reason.

why throw it out when you can throw it up

better to throw it up than throw it out.

either one, it’s for still having uneaten food with no intention on saving it for leftovers and you’re stomach is already really plenty full.
