September is Suicide Prevention month 💙💜 Throughout this month, we will be sharing tips and helpful resources. Help raise suicide awareness by sharing this post.
If you or anyone you know is experiencing suicidal thoughts, know that YOU ARE NOT ALONE and that YOU HAVE SO MUCH WORTH 💙
Thank you 🙏 so much for posting this info. I have known a number of people who have committed suicide. It is so important to have this info. There is a saying. To save one life is like saving the world.
My sentiments exactly. Thank you 🙏 for your support. Tho my friend took her life in 2001, the pain is always there but fortunately for me, my meds and supportive places like HU and hotlines help me to a great extent.
I’m curious why just in Sept do you share tips. Shouldn’t that be year round? It’s great to draw awareness even though it’s just for a month, but I’m just wondering what people do the rest of the 11 months for tips?
We share tips and resources all year. And we have dedicated pages to suicide prevention on our website, adaa.org. But we do highlight it even more during September.
It is good to hear that it seems we aren't posting enough on the subject though. I will take this to our content team. We will do better.
If you go to the bottom of the post, there should be a spot that says "reply, like, report, and more". Click on the word "More" and a drop down list will appear. Click on "Copy post link" and then you can paste that link into a post or share it in a message via any social media platform. Hope this helped!
Thank you for this post. I have one comment and it's a problem lots of suicide survivors struggle with (I've lost 2 uncles and a brother to suicide) is that it shouldn't be called Suicide Prevention Month, but Suicide Awareness Month. Many survivors are racked with guilt about if they could have done something to prevent the suicide and calling it Suicide Prevention Month only adds to that. This is not a criticism, just hoping to increase awareness of what survivors deal with.
Thank you for sharing this comment— it's good to hear feedback, especially because this content we create is for everyone's use. We will do better to mention raising awareness and not just prevention 💙
