My wife suffers from severe depression caused by the severe pain brought on by tardive dyskinesia and dystonia that appeared as the consequence of doctor-prescribed benzodiazepine use. She has further lost much of her life quality by not being able to participate in family activities or connecting with our 16 year-old child.

Looking for support for my wife
tardive dyskinesia? Is that the one with the uncontrollable movement? Will it stop when the drug stops? I’m sorry I don’t know much about it. We all struggle with depression here. I do understand the isolation though. I have disassociated myself from most things. Does she see a therapist? Maybe she would like to join us here. There’s always someone to talk to here. I have found so many understanding people who truly care.
Hi, thank you for your message. There are lots of unknowns but general wisdom is that yes, symptoms of drug-induced tardive dyskinesia (TD) will stop eventually upon GABA receptor regeneration in the brain. This is a process that might take years, unfortunately. I did join this group to see what resources folks may be able to provide and I will encourage her to join by herself. Thank you for getting in touch with me right away!
You might see it there are any support groups for living with chronic health conditions in your area for her.
