A few quick ways to take the anxiety edge off

Give the anxious thoughts less importance by naming it as just thoughts and saying “less importance”

Ask yourself if you will recall this anxiety provoking situation 5 years from now.

Be in the present moment with focus on your breathing

Accept the feelings

Remember that things have a way of working out; trust the process.

Ask how I might exist if I had more trust

Hug yourself and smile

Change environment

Go with the flow

Step back and observe

another silly thing that works at times is I pretend I am the smallest spec in the universe practically invisible and so are my problems. 🙃

"Ask yourself if you will recall this anxiety provoking situation 5 years from now."

Yes. If I'm still alive, darn it, I will. It's a blessing and a curse.

I’ve got to say I get it in that one- for me too- but only on some stuff as I freak out over so much I can’t contain it all 🙃 and retrieve all that data in my brain.

I like your "poem" above. It sounds just like the theory I was learning in DBT about "mindfulness." And I, too, try to follow it, but I know it is not easy! Thank you for sharing.

Starrlight,

I just saved an interesting looking article to check out... When I read another post of yours, I scanned the article , and it seems to have helpful info. Sharing with you. I hope it gives you some relief and peace of mind . Onward and upward ! Writing out "reduce importance" on a stuck thought 30 times can be helpful. May you sleep well !!!

Great points. It's all about perspective and living in the moment isn't it? It's tough when our minds run away on us.

Thank you for this wonderful list of coping strategies
