so a while ago one of the lamps beside our doorway broke during a storm. We have noticed a bird had laid 3 eggs inside and just now we finally see them hatched!honestly that was smart with the light still working for the lamp it provides heat and protection! They might be a bit hard to spot but they are there UwU

I can't see them but I'm so excited that you can. I love the little sounds they make.

I have a nest over an outside light too. I can't wait to hear my babies

Just below center, look for a fuzzy yellowish little oval. That's the first guy's hair-do. The brown eye and yellow beak are just below that.

No problem. It was fun, kind of like the old Highlights hidden pictures.

Adorable. They've got punk hair-dos.

I'm surprised mom and dad let you get close without dive-bombing you.

Do you know what kind of birds yet?

Cool photo! I apologize in advance for what may be stupid or intrusive questions: are the lamps those kind that attach to the wall? could the heat from the lamp cause the nest to catch fire? Reason for the questions is that I see possibilities for a poem here, so I'm trying to flesh out the scene a bit.

its no problem yes they are black metal and attached one on either side of the front door and wall is made of bricks. no it wont catch fire. i would love to read any poems that come from this!

Thanks so much! Oh, one further (probably boneheaded) question if you'll indulge me: is the photo sideways or is the nest kind of defying gravity?

If I end up writing anything, I'll be sure to post a link here. 😺

I finally made the connections I needed to make to write the poem; it's called "Growth" and can be found on my Wordpress page:

I can't wait to tell my neighbour, a starling nest above her porch, underneath the tiles, feeding from my bird feeder and untidy garden, she has been away for about 10 days, no forwarding address nothing?🤔🤭🙃

We've got sparrows nesting in the eaves of our little terrace of houses - 3 pairs I think this year. We get them every year. And a neighbour has collared doves nesting in her tree.

Its the damage the starlings are causing, maybe not now, but maybe in future? Actually neighbours on both side are away, I can stay up a bit longer, noisier music on👍

I've had three birds coming down the chimney this year, has not been lit for at least 12 years, two caught in living room where chimney is, one caught in curtain top of the stairs, that was a bit of a mess, asked for "cowboy" to come around put cap on chimney, two months ago still waiting😴😴😴
