treatment options are limited where I’m presently living. Are there others who have been able to video conference with a psychiatrist that takes medicare?

I see this is your first post. So I want to welcome you to the community.

I never realized that Medicare would have a restriction on this. I guess I'm not surprised with the way insurance works. It's really sad

I hope someone comes along to answer your question

Wishing you the best

Medicare doesn't have a restriction on telehealth. It depends on if the provider accepts Medicare as payment. I have Medicare and it hasn't been a problem at all.

I had the choice of a video call or regular phone call during the pandemic. Now I go to the clinic. I’m there, but my psychiatrist is on a screen. I have Medicare. There’s still a lot of professionals and patients that have a need or choose not to be physically present together.

Welcome. I am on Medicare and only see my psychiatrist on video. When I left a hospitalization during Covid, I had to show I had a doctor and just took him. While he does see patients in his office, it is just more convenient for me to continue at home.

Because of this video business, he sees tons more patients and it is hard to get an appointment. I honestly would find something else but most Doctors aren't taking new patients and especially Medicare patients.

It's like a rock and a hard place. It is a job but check Psychology Today, your Internist, etc. (I can't remember if Medicare has a list) for people who do take Medicare and do telemedicine. There are some web based groups as well.

Good luck on this. Let us know how you do.

My psychiatrist only does telehealth anymore and he takes Medicare. He never went back to the office after the height of Covid. I only see him every 3 months to monitor my Ativan that I don't take very often. My therapist does telehealth if needed. I actually just had a wrap-up session with her in the office.

Just read your profile.. I'm a retired OT. Have been dealing with depression and anxiety my whole adult life. Became treatment resistant to meds a few years ago and TMS has been my treatment of choice. For me it was a lifesaver. Hope you're doing well.
