Exactly, hope folks in N.Ireland will hear that - that sums it up perfectly. My mother always used to say « Burn the history books! » and she was right…
“Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it.”
There is a reason dictatorships burn books. Knowledge is precious.
Yes I agree Nothing_but-pain but I think a lot of politicians especially in N.Ireland (and I am from Belfast!) are stuck in the past and their strong opinions and prejudices hinder them from moving forward into the future…also if parents are prejudiced they pass it on to their children. Fortunately now there are more mixed religion schools - they just weren’t there when I was growing up! - and this is definitely the way forward.
I get the idea and appreciate it. Rage is a part of my PTSD and I've gotten better at dealing with anger issues but this post reminds me of Einstein's comments about how we can't solve a problem with the same thinking that created it. There are some people in my life I will never be able to forgive 😐
I have let go of alot of it but sometimes some stupid intrusive memory of something I did or someone else did pops up. I have to forgive it quickly because I can't stay feeling angry.
