Anxiety off the charts

So I've been stressed out alot in the last few weeks. I have a tendency to clench my teeth alot and then my neck, face and jaws start hurting which immediately makes me think something is wrong with my heart which freaks me out more. I did some strenuous stuff at work yesterday and my shoulders and neck are sore anyway. I can't get my mind off of something being wrong. Anyone else ever do this?

All the time, our anxiety always tells us its something wrong when its probably completely normal like a sore muscle

Grandmaof3, repetitive clenching of your jaw can produce referred pain

in your neck, face and jaw which has nothing to do with your heart. Doing

strenuous things at work yesterday certainly didn't help. Once we know where

the discomfort and pain come from, you can use this to your benefit in calming

your fears. Calming your mind is important as well because that's where the

lies are coming from. Anxiety makes us jump to conclusions that aren't true.

Maybe a hot bath might help in calming those tight muscles. Also some relaxation

meditation and breathing will help.

Assuring yourself that you are physically okay and safe. Don't give into those fears

that anxiety is feeding you. :) xx

The other night I must have clenched my teeth so much that the insides of my mouth had some sores when I woke up. Also I still have a huge headache and I feel like I have some swelling from my ears down my neck. I keep taking Tylenol and it at least helped me sleep last night but as soon as I woke up this morning the ache is back. I don’t know if some of it is allergy related because the weather is getting nicer or not.

I’m not worried that something is wrong with me only because I think it is either stress, allergies, or me coming to the reality my marriage is over. I’ve tried mouth guards before but I end up just like sucking on them all night.

I hope you feel better soon.

store bought mouth guards are terrible… I did the same thing, but then had one molded and made for me by my dentist. Major difference

I suffer from this too and try to waggle my jaw from right to left/ up/down every hour or so and also make circular movements. You can always do it in the loo as it tends to look odd! Oh and I find chewing gum helps too.

My medication is causing some inadvertent teeth clenching. So much so that it is moving my teeth and causing problems with my partials. I go to the dentist on Tuesday to have a tooth pulled. Hopefully he can get them straightened out. I’m also working with my psychiatrist about the medication effects.

get yourself a mouth guard, take a warm bath then do some meditation, stretching and/or prayer before bed, put on meditative or calming music to sleep. I find when I do this every night as much as I can, I sleep better. I also do the DARE app, which has calming meditations everyday- I pay for the subscription which gives you more… but there is a free version you could check out
