When in the day do you take your meds?

do you find that a particular time of day is best? My doctors don’t seem to have a strong opinion either way about this.

Some I take in the morning and some I take at night. And there’s one that I take midday. I can’t explain why I do that. Other than my thyroid med which I’m supposed to take in the morning. I also take something for my ADHD that is better taken in the morning. But I take my antidepressant at night.

I know that doesn’t really answer your question but it’s my experience.

I take mine in the morning. Your question is very complicated and is not black-and-white. It depends on whether said medications cause sleep issues, etc.

It really depends on the person and what the medication does for you. I take what I can when I wake up, and the rest I take before I go to bed.

Hey Kelly! Realize everyone is different but I was instructed to take Lexapro and 1/2 dose Wellbutrin first thing in AM. Other 1/2 dose of Wellbutrin at noon but no later or can cause sleep issues. Problem is, I forget noon dose about 50% of the time or remember too late. Going to set alarm on phone to start reminding myself. I shouldn’t complain about meds not working when I can’t even remember to take them properly. 😖

That’s my problem exactly!!! Sometimes I don’t remember to take them til 3-4pm!

This is why I’m going to use phone alarm from now on. Just can’t remember any meds at noon either.

Find whatever clock is nearest to you when you need to take your meds, and set an alarm if needed. Your cell phone should have a daily alarm.

If you have a daily routine. You could also put a post it note in your line of sight, right around the time that you need to take your meds. :)

I was just going to suggest that, and most phone calendars have a daily alarm.

So you should be able to set it once and be all good. :)

in reply toAnxiousSilver

Yea just set it for noon for all time. Problem with everyday alarms is after a while I usually say “yea yea I know” and keep snoozing it. 🤣 Going to try not to let that happen with noon med. I have definite procrastination issues as you can see 😀

Oh you do that too. :)

.

A post it note, AND/OR your pill bottle in your line of sight where you will be around noon would probably be the next thing. (on top of the phone alarm)

Yes. line of sight is good idea for me. Out of site out of mind happens to much to me.

I get that way too.

Sometimes more than I like to admit.

in reply toAnxiousSilver

It’s a bad habit. Just add it the the list of all the other stuff I need to improve on. :)

Although, might wait until tomorrow to work on that list

lol. :)

.

I wonder if the person who invented the "snooze" button was a procrastinator? :)

in reply toAnxiousSilver

Of course they were😀

Some meds it says on the box when to take them, if it doesn’t then it’s probably ok to take when you want, if youre not sure have a chat with your Dr.

I take my Lexapro in the afternoon with a Kellogs Nutri-Grain bar. (or any soft baked breakfast bar)

So.. I keep my Nutri Grain Bar in my line of sight where I am usually in the afternoon.

Another good suggestion. (for anyone reading this)

Weekly pill containers. (found online or any grocery story pharmacy)

.

Those are good for anyone that's constantly not sure if they took their pills. :)

in reply toAnxiousSilver

Hi AnxiousSilver,I hope you are well. I used to use a pill container, but currently am not since I found myself forgetting to use it!

"I used to use a pill container, but currently am not since I found myself forgetting to use it!"

I bought one a while ago as an "impulse buy" online.

I originally bought the pill container, because I got tired of wondering if I took the pills vs the risk of doubling up. (and I couldn't stand that feeling).

.

What I ended up moving to, was using an empty pill bottle, (I took the label off to make it even more visible) so if the pill is in there, then I didn't take it yet.

If not, then I did, but I have my own habit of restocking the empty pill bottle.

It works for now, and if that falls apart, I still have my weekly pill container that I bought as an impulse buy a while back. :)

I'm glad you have a system that works for you! That's great👍

I take Lexapro and I find for me about 6pm works well. Doesn’t affect my sleep or anything

I take my meds at night, just before I go to bed.

I have different medications. Some I take in the morning, others just before bedtime. But I do take them at the same time every day. I set an alarm on my phone.

It depends on the med. I take mirtazapine at night and Escitalopram in the morning. As mentioned by others, a lot depends on side effects as well.

If the meds cause drowsiness then take them after supper. The next question to ask is if there are any other meds that need to be taken separately. I have to keep some apart by a few hours. Ask your pharmacist/chemist.
