as you all might know I have a fear of throwing up and being sick. The last few nights all of my dreams have involved someone throwing up or having a stomach bug. I’m fearful that means I’m going to get the stomach bug. I know that’s not rational but that’s how I’m feeling

It may not be rational, but some of us don’t have the luxury of rational thinking 24/7. Would advise 1) meditation, 2) ask your doctor for a prescription for some anti nausea medication

Dreams are really important, even though they seem upsetting at times. Theyre usually just telling you whats going on in you at a deeper level. Youre definitely worried about vomiting i would say. Was there anything positive in the dream like you handled it or were ok at the end?

everyone else was vomiting in the dream. Thankfully I wasn’t!

I have that fear too. Emetophobia. I believe what we think about we dream about. I wake up with sweats when I have a real bad dream about it, like someone who is throwing up chasing me. This phobia has greatly impacted my life and where I'm able to go, no where near carnivals and that's for sure. xx

About 30 years ago. It's been long time since I've been ill. Physically, lol.

I’m hoping that is possible for me. The thought of being I’ll with a stomach bug is so scary

I agree. I use to be so fearful of getting food poisoning. I barely ate anything during those times. I've been to therapy for this very fear and it helped me so much.

I also want to add, most of the time, what we fear, never comes to fruition. I bet you don't end up getting a stomach bug at all. xx

thank you so much ❤️ Do you mind me asking if there are any strategies you use when you feel anxious about food poisoning?

I meditate on positive things in my life. I write in a journal things to be grateful for and focus on them. Before all that, I stayed clear of what food items that would possibly trigger me, meats and such. I ate crackers knowing In my mind those wouldn't get me ill. It was horrible. But yes, try and get your focus on positive things and keep your thoughts on pure and lovely things. It helps. xx

I am currently in therapy but my therapist is worried that I’m struggling. I don’t want to be admitted into a facility. I am able to go to work and function and get work done for my masters course but this anxiety is something I have to fight on a day to day basis.
