What to do While thinking the thoughts that make your anxious????

I am new to the group and so far this looks like a God sent.. I woke up this morning feeling OK, but then I put into my own head "Why aren't you feeling anxious"? Then I started feeling my anxiety kick in and I started thinking of my ex-boyfriend and how he is SO much greater than me or my new job is too much for me...Just all of these self sabotaging thoughts. And when I picture myself to stand up to whatever it is.. I just can't find my voice, and that panics me, upsets me and make me feel inadequate.

Oh I get it! We can literally trigger our own anxiety worrying if we will get anxiety. It can be a vicious loop but I am in the same rollercoaster often. Breathing techniques have worked a ton for me, but I actually had to see a specialist to get breathing right. So totally agree with John9993. Exercise is always good, but I too fail in that spot. If I come up with anything that works, I'll let you know! Just know you are not alone.

Thank you 012703060610. Yea I am going to look into all of this. I've tried exercising and I totally understand the hard to start part. lol.

Welcome!

I know from experience I can trigger depression from bringing up thoughts from the past about who hurt me or how my life hasn't worked out. I just try not to go there.

I've heard it said depression is dwelling on the past and anxiety on the future.

Sometimes just putting on some loud good music helps.

There are a few breathing tools that help me. One I bought from this site but plenty around that are cheaper with the same design. I wear it around my neck. You literally feel calm with one breathe. I wish it lasted forever, but at least found this useful. I tried a guided meditation with not much success. It talked a lot about letting go and feeling free.....my brain isn't there quite yet!
