Social anxiety relief and pain !

Hello guys ! this is me from Greece. First of all, I would like to apologize for my english. Imagine how deep is my need to share my feelings, that I get over my nervous about my writing skills !

I just been diagnosed with social anxiety, and in that moment I felt relief, pain and depression. More that 10 years, my self-confidence is very low, I am afraid and feel very nervous for any kind of socialization. Just to share an example, even when i have arranged to meet friends (and I have a lot) a minute before i feel very anxious and try to found various excuses for postpone it or sometimes i prepare topics for discussion. In order to feel, comfortable i drink alcohol even before our appointment.

When i was informed that all that symptoms are SA, I felt relief. I finally realized that is a mental health problem and not that I am incapable. however, since then i am crying for all the pain that i have felt all those years and for all the moments that I have missed.

Is that something common?

don't cry. It sounds as though you are fairly young and now that you know what the problem is, you will start to recover. You will still have a lot of time to enjoy yourself. I also suffered from SA. I was treated with medication and talk and recovered. You will too. x
