Tonight, I'm the Noisy Neighbor

My brother told me he wants my backyard to have some friends over, I expected that he wanted to gather a few friends and have a nice (adult) dinner, turns out it's a party! I am here in my room thinking how ironic it all is.

There is music, laughter, and loud conversations. And LOADS of people in my backyard.

I didn't want to join the party as I am not comfortable in a setting where I am the oldest attendee. πŸ˜…

It is a weekend night here, the end of the year (people celebrate the New Year), and it isn't late, and I probably won't have such a loud setting again, so I am not feeling bad, especially in light of how badly I've been treated by my neighbors, considering they view noise as a right of theirs, but it is so funny to me, the whole occurrence, and I thought I'd share it here.

Wait your the oldest attendee? πŸ˜‚ Aren't you in your 30s? How are these people πŸ˜‚

So you are making the noise this time around. Well not you but your brother is. Is he borrowing your backyard for New Years Eve?

Excuse me! πŸ˜†I am 25! He is 22 and his guests are in the age range of 22-23.

He is having a New Year's party, but it is today because New Year's isn't a holiday where we live, so he is celebrating it this weekend with his friends.

Yes, I don't feel bad because probably by next year he'll have his own backyard and so I won't be this noisy again (and I've never been this noisy before), plus it's the weekend, plus the party is until midnight, so it won't rage into the early hours of the morning.

I am more worried about the cleanup, if I'm being honest. He offered to clean when it's over and my other brothers offered to help, but I trust nobody's cleaning but mine, so I'll do it myself.

LOL. I hope you look back at this when you're 40 and get a hardy chuckle out of it. I thought you were in your 50 or 60s. :-)

Thank you!

Nope, just 25, wary and frightened by the prospect of aging πŸ˜†

OMG I'm old! Im 34 πŸ˜‚ You mean you can't communicate with people 2-3yrs younger than you?! C'mon man πŸ˜‚

Now me I understand. I'm an elder millennial. I don't know if I can communicate with Gen Z all that well. With their new terrible slang πŸ˜‚ kidding.

Yes clean up after a party sucks. But you'll have a nice anecdotal story to tell. ❀️

I can communicate with anyone, but when they're all younger than me, it is awkward. Especially in a fast-paced world like today, a 2-3 years gap means a huge difference in understanding. I was born in 1997, they're born in 2000 xD
