My amazing, kind neighbors

After our insane snow storm I am more grateful than ever for my neighbors. Due to the disc degeneration in my back I can't shovel. So my neighbor's son who is in elementary school shoveled a tunnel from their house to ours so I could let the dog out. Then in the evening after our road hadn't been plowed at all his father plowed our entire road with a tractor while the volunteer fire company followed in the brush truck just in case he got stuck and needed to be towed out. He slowly made his way up to the top of the road which is over 1/4 of a mile. A friend who moved here from New York City always tells me living here makes her feel like she's part of a community. I grew up here and take that feeling for granted but after this storm I will give thanks for my neighbors every single day. Kindness truly does matter.

Wouldn't swap them for anything.

This is so nice to see kindness being spread in your community.

I have that where I moved to three months ago. Twice trees downed blocking road ways. Once, just an old tree decided it didn’t want to stand any more and the other when hurricane Zeta plowed through my state, we were a direct hit. What a complete mess that was. Neighbors came together like I have not seen. I didn’t have this at my other neighborhood I live in for 15 years.

Love this, hope you have a great day. 🌺💜

Mines a patterdale terrier she’s ok once she gets out mooching ......but takes some persuasion

Roxie bath time is like pulling teeth, She’s 84 pounds and you can’t keep her still. It takes two to bath her.

She’s motivated by food, that helps minorly when it comes to anything water. 😂😂

Put some hot dogs in a bath 😋

in reply toSillysausage234

You can’t get her in a bath. It’s free standing and hope she doesn’t get away. It’s a terrible job. 😂

Patience ....😂....training days ....no breakfast allowed then play Hansel and gtetel with tiny bits of tasty hot dogs 🌭 ...if you can get raccoons to feed from your hand you can get a lab into a bath Roxy .......my terrier just gets hoisted up and tied to the faucet on the sink ....she would jump in a bath for her ball though .....but wouldn’t fall for hot dogs

in reply toSillysausage234

She’ll do everything for hot dogs, but get in a bath tub.

On a serious note, she seems terrified of the bath tub, like she’s claustrophobic, the shower too. It’s like she acts like she’s trapped. It kinda a strange, so at this house we hook up outside hose to kitchen sink for hot water and wash her on the deck. She’s not going far, it’s down hill, literally more than two stories to hit land below.

in reply toSillysausage234

Now that’s talent. Has she trained you to roll over yet?

Mine does have that power over me too, I fall for her special requests every time. 😁

Started off me training her not to have aggression over food but it backfired

Gotta love our dogs. They know how to pull on our heart strings and manipulate us at the same time. We’re such suckers. 😂

My dog won't get in the tub or shower so we take her to get groomed. They can't blow dry her. She's afraid of the noise. Also afraid of vacuum cleaners, nail clippers, thunder, fireworks and the wind. When we got her she was a year old and was rescued from a dog hoarder so who knows what she went through before she was rescued.

You dog reminds me of my Silver lab that passed right after we moved here. She had sooooo much anxiety, same with all noise. She was always shaking like she was scared of everything. Thunderstorms were very excessive on her anxiety. Your dog resonates with me really well.

Roxie and the water is truly puzzling and her acting like she does going into a confined space.

Molly has me trained. Lots of dog treats. Taking her outside while my husband vacuums and closing up the house when there is thunder or fireworks. I crank the tv and turn on Music Choice soundscapes. (Calming meditation music.) She also has an aftghan and a fleece blanket on her favorite living room chair. She's spoiled but she's worth it.

in reply toMrspjsmom

They spoil us too. So it’s a win win and you’re so right totally worth it.

my son went out and got bags of salt and went round the street spreading it around because he was worried the school kids or parents might slip in the morning because of the ice we had recently.

Got groceries before the storm so I'm all set. A lesson you learn young in upstate New York. My dog isn't thrilled with her tunnel but she'll just have to adjust.

Wow! This is wonderful! A Texas memory: our neighbors helped us clean up the debris in our driveway the day after a hurricane. It was very touching!
