Stupid health anxiety

I have this stupid new fear where I'm afriad I'm going to be allergic to everything. It's got me so paranoid most the time anymore, and I'm afraid to touch anything half the time. Then I get anxiety rashes and then convince myself it's a reaction. Does this ever stop? Does anyone else do this too?

Hi AB01.

Only me , a suggestion if I may , go see your doctor or a clinician that can run tests on ur skin to see what ur allergic to if U do have allergies . Also nothing wrong with wearing gloves or even masks & I recommend it if U got to any place where health is involved as its a place for sick people.

Ur fear is a real fear as I'm the same with going out into public places not knowing what's out there. Ur doctor should be able to allay ur fears with facts & then at least U know the truth

Also have U researched to see if any of what U feel is stupid is real or just hearsay.

Also what we think & feel is real for each of us at least & that's never stupid. Not saying we are right but what U feel is ur truth & that's never stupid.

Thank you for the reply. Glad someone thinks I'm not stupid or "crazy".

Hi Ashley don't worry to much it will eventually go away I still to a certain degree have health anxieties I used to wash my hands all the time and didn't like using public toilets incase I caught something I wasted a lot of years over this fear but I sought help from a physiatrist who was great at understanding how I felt ! The rashes will go away as your anxiety lessens if your not already doing so try discussing this with your doctor and I hope you get the help you need ! Just to add something have you tried relaxation cds and you can get relaxation on line to download try any of several on you tube all the best 👌

I always wash my hands every time im out bc I hate germs . I'll mention to my Dr about it next time I see him, whenever that is. And I've never tried that. I'll look it up soon

Sounds like you may be dealing with some OCD which can be part of health anxiety. Health anxiety stems from an exaggerated need to control yourself and your environment and a hyper focus on your bodies sensations and fluctuations which are normal but your OCD thinking can distort it.

You could benefit from the youtube videos and website of Paige Pradko, she also offers an online program for health anxiety and OCD you might be interested in. She is a therapist that has dealt with these disorders herself and no helps others to heal and learn how to constructively deal with them.
