My Dr started me on Lexapro.

Havent posted in a long time but I finally got brave enough to tell the DR about my anxiety. She started me on Lexapro. Day 5 and no crazy symptoms. Just wondering about other peoples experance with Lexapro?

Hi arcknight...it has been a long while. I'm happy to see that you have started medication.

I too am on Lexapro and have found it to be a very good drug for me. I was able to get

off benzos and solely stay on Lexapro. Give it time to work. 4-6 weeks to reach full

efficacy. (a few more days if the dose is increased during that time) You've made a

big step forward in finding some relief with your mental health issues.

Agora pretty much nailed it, but I just wanted to say that I am on Lex for a long time myself.

I wouldn't call it a miracle pill, but I know that it is helping me more than hurting, because I feel super anxious on a day where I almost missed taking it.

Either way, I hope that things work out for you.

Lexapro didn't work for me. The first time my doctor prescribed it I was on it for about a month. I began to feel a bit crappy so I gave up on it. The second time I gave it about a month and a half before I gave up on it again. I have a neighbor who has been on it for about 2 years and seems to be doing well. I have been on it for I think about 9 months 20mg a day. I would say it helps, but it can make you sleepy at times. So I am going to talk to my doctor about splitting or reducing the dose. Wish you the best. Did take a month or more until I adjusted and slowly raised the dosage. Stay in close touch with at least your GP about any concerns right away.
