MY PSYCH DR DONE A GENETIC TEST ON ME AND IT CAME BACK SO SHE PEESCRIBE ME HYDROXYZINE 10MG AND 150MG OF WELBUTRIN I KNOW I POST THIS AS A CONCERN ONCE BUT LASTYEAR I HAD A BAD EPISODE LASTYEAR WITH 100MG ZOLOFT THAT ALMOST SENT ME TO HOSPITAL LASTYEAR AND I HAVE HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE AS WELL IM JUST NERVOUS ABOUT THESE NEW MEDS ..

I have had bad luck with Celexa and Zoloft and unfortunately did end up in the hospital due to increased anxiety and suicidal ideation after a week of taking Zoloft. I am actually hoping my doctor will order a genetic test for me as I can’t seem to find a medication that works well without having side effects that interfere with my life. I’m still pretty depressed and anxious and the doctor at the hospital decided to steer clear of traditional anti depressants. So I’m now trying out zyprexa and buspar. I wish I could help. I think it is normal to have anxiety with starting any new medication though. Just make sure you maintain good communication with your doctor and don’t feel bad for reaching out with any concerns/seeking help if needed.

I'm sorry you've had such trouble with medication. Communication with your Dr is so important I have had a lot of success with sertaline, but I had a terrible time with Effexor. I spent an entire Summer throwing up constantly. I told the Dr. at first, but he didn't think it was from the medicine, so I just suffered through until my next appointment. When I saw him he said I should stop taking the medicine and see what happened and keep in touch. It was the medicine. If I had "bothered" the Dr, I could have saved myself a lot of suffering. I've never heard about genetic testing for this, but I do know sertaline works for 5 other members of my family, so it makes sense there is a genetic connection. I know it's hard to put your life in Dr's care, but we can't do it by ourselves, and it sounds like she or he is trying to help. You have to trust someone, give them a chance. Good luck
