What Are Your Coping Tools?

I have a few. A long drive on back roads with the top and doors off my Jeep and music blaring. Coloring in my adult coloring books. My log cabins and Halloween/horror being my favorites. Music for sure. I also have a 15 gallon aquarium with a Koi Betta that I can sit and watch for hours. I also game.

What do you all do when things start getting.... tough?

Hello Steve. On my side I walk, take care of my dog and when things are really bad I scream then cry

I feel that

i walk & exercise when I'm physically able (I've been injured recently, which sucks), pray, read the Bible, play video games, talk to & watch tv with my mom (when possible). I also have tons of supplements i use (magnesium spray, GABA, lavender, etc, etc), but i think that's just throwing money away, because none of that seems to help. Taking an antihistamine like Benadryl, or hydroxizine helps more than anything recently (was on benzos for 20 years, have been off for 6 months & no one around here will prescribe them. I can get on the streets, but i have avoided that, since u never know what u are getting these days, when they put fentanyl in everything).

Look into Delta8. It helps with a lot of physical and mental health issues.

I would say exercise helps me - going to my gym or taking a long walk on a nice day.

Sometimes a morning cup of coffee gives me a boost but I like to use that tool sporadically.

Watching a good sitcom or comedy. Volunteering has helped as well.

I go to the gym, take a walk, usually the best thing that works for me is deep abdominal breathing. Years ago I took biofeedback training for this. I ever knew I was doing shallow chest breathing and that was wrong. It definitely helped me get over my panic attacks. It lowers blood pressure and slows your heart rate down.

I go for long walks to get some exercise. And I try to eat healthier, like I eat more salads. I like to listen to different kinds of music, to calm myself down I’ll listen to some classical music. I try to make sure I take my medications like I’m supposed to.
