Have you heard this term being thrown around? The term refers to those who always say something positive even when the situation is not ignoring sadness in others. Its the response by another person who is incessantly cheerful, who is not recognizing your pain. It's akin to statements like: You are on fire and someone says, the 3rd degree burns gives you a nice suntan. You are in a car accident and someone saying to you, this will be a great learning experience in how to drive better. Your bad haircut makes you grow as a person;( but not grow the hair).
Yesterday my doctor made me laugh. He said there is a Slow sign on a road by him, in which someone wrote underneath, because you're worth it. His facetious reply, "How do YOU know that I am worth it? Do you know me? Maybe I'm not worth it." recognizing that when we are pain we need someone to understand us, and not give us platitudes. I guess my depression lifted enough that I could enjoy this humor.
What goofy things have you heard?
