How to deal with other personalities with anxiety....?

Hello friends!!

I am dealing with something a little abnormal so I wanted some thoughts on it from my HU family!! :) I've been with my Fiance for 2 years now and I am so thankful for his family because they are all extremely sweet to me! However, his sister has a bit of a different personality. I was asked to be a bridesmaid in her wedding in 2020 and thought that would make us super close. I have pulled her aside multiple times when I've been around her to make sure she was okay and liked me and she always reassures she loves me and I would know if she didn't like me. However, sometimes she's just so dry and doesn't hardly reach out to me much. I just got added to their family group chat and she just isn't real bubbly with her personality. My fiance tells me he was never real close to her growing up and she was always dry. With me having anxiety this really doesn't help it whenever we go down to visit. I am aware that my personality is strong and bubbly and have to be aware not everyone is like that but it's still hard. We both didn't grow up with a sister so I want her to feel close to me, I guess I just have to let time take it's course.

Does anyone else with anxiety struggle with being too nice & bubbly and sometimes your anxiety takes over when others don't reciprocate?

Forming relationships with in-laws can be difficult and can take time. In the end, I have unfortunately found that no matter how close the relationship seemed, they are not the same as blood relatives though. As long as you have a pleasant relationship, I would let it be for now and it will hopefully become closer as time passes.
