Does anyone have/had a tight stomach and breathing difficulties as a result of sertraline. I am having these issues and don’t think I had them prior to taking, but if so has anyone come off sertraline and thus not having these issues. I can’t move around easily at all as feel so tense and tight in my stomach.

Cheers can’t recall how long but has been more than a year I think, I’ve been trying to do relaxing suggestions but it doesn’t seem to help. Was thinking of decreasing by 50 mg as currently on 150 to see if any different and if so eventually stop with the medication altogether. The side effects do say it can cause shortness of breath and stomach issues.

Hello sorry you are feeling rough .What sort of tight stomach sensation ?. Does it feel like anxiety / nervousness . Do you feel sick ?

Are you getting any pains in you chest ? Do you feel dizzy or like you are going to pass out.

A lot of side effects pass in the first couple of weeks , if they get worse or you not managing with them or concerned then see your doctor . There is also a PIL leaflet that comes with your tablets which says what side effects you may have .

Hope you feel better soon 🐼

Cheers think nervousness but at times I don’t feel like there is any direct cause, it’s just the general feeling I get. Don’t feel sick. I shake a bit but don’t feel dizzy, it’s more like a bloated feeling I think not so much painful but just heavy and uncomfortable, have been on the tablets for at least a year as was worried about coming off but looking at the side effects it does mention breathing issues and stomach. I was managing it reasonably well but it isn’t sustainable and now it’s only really occurred to me after trying various relaxation methods and other things, that it could be the medication.

No worries , if you do decide to come off it then speak to your doctor as they will need to reduce the dose first so you don't get so many withdrawal symptoms . Also it can effect your mental health for a bit until your body adjusts to the change . 🐼
