This was a magical moment for me. I was climbing up the Great Orme in Llandudno when I suddenly rounded a bend and saw the amazing wild Kashmiri goats feeding on the foliage near the road!!
These are the goats which hit the headlines during the pandemic by coming down from the hills to wander about in the town lying around in the road and munching on bushes in gardens.
I learned some interesting facts about them lately also. Apparently they all originate from a pair which were given to Queen Victoria by an Indian Dignitary and escaped to form a herd in the wild.
There is a quaint custom in which one can be adopted and trained as a mascot by a local regiment. When this happens that goat 🐐 is granted the honorary rank of Lance Corporal!!
