I am definitely a bit weird because I love photographing unusual plants and wildlife. Getting out into nature even if it is a city park really helps my anxiety.
Mushrooms, or fungi to give them their correct Latin name come in so many different colours and shapes, and appear as if by magic overnight.
Give it a try, it is great excercise and gives you a double pleasure in looking at cropping and sorting your photos afterwards. I have even got a few others interested. It is a great year for fungi finding in the UK and you can even try enrolling on a fungus foray with an expert to help you find delicious species for the table. I can now go on fungus forays of my own after years of experience but it is unwise to try it without an expert at first as there are some deadly species around.
I have made four wild mushroom pies this year, two were for the freezer and two we have enjoyed with friends and a glass or two of 🍷. Still here to tell the tale!!
None of these are edible, just beautiful. Have a look at my other post today if you are interested in the folk law about the Fly Agaric, the red spotted fairy tale toadstool. I was dead chuffed to find these lovely ones to photograph yesterday.

Kim, those are soooooo beautiful! The red ones are so vibrant and the others are fasinating as they grow in a clumps. Do any of these have a common everyday name, esp the red ones? Thanks for sharing! C.
These photos are awesome! How wonderful you know how to find these jewels! I sometimes do the same thing...photograph mushrooms that have sprung up overnight in my yard or elsewhere. I don't think it's weird, but that's me. It's totally legit to marvel at these surprising beauties. I wish we got the red ones, but we don't. Darn!Darn! Darn! Lucky you! btw...can you teach me how to split the screen and post more than 1 pic?
The collage of several photos is created on my smart phone. I think most phones will do it. On the screen when viewing photos I have an icon saying assistant, then after that at top of the screen click on collage. It then says you can choose 2 to 9 photos.
Love your photos. I like to take photos too. Usually I stick with nature but sometimes I like to photograph ordinary things in a different way. A great tip for anyone.
You do it on your smart phone. View photos, then bottom of the screen, icon saying assistant, then top of screen collage, then option to choose photos. You get no option for where to position them which is frustrating however.
Thanks so much Cindy, and for your great message which I will reply to in time. The red ones are called Fly Agaric. I will tell you more about the name too. I put it on a post to the PTSD website but it seems most people cannot see that.
You mean the Raindeer tail? That's one of them. And most likely where 'Santa's Flying Raindeer' came from. Deer used to eat them, maybe they still do. I've never seen one fly tho, only pigs.
Don't eat them tho, extremely soporific, you'll sleep a day away. Pretty toxic the liver too (hepatotoxic).
Same with nutmeg. Gives a stoned feeling before waking up half a day later with one big headache! I 'think' it was either Malcom X or Martin Luther King who is reported to have taken a matchbox-sized amount of ground nutmeg while in prison before he had prayed or acted out some ritual. Something like that. Sorry for going off subject.
It is the Liberty Caps u want. That's what I've heard... Careful, they have been confused with death-cap mushrooms before! So I've been told...
Beautiful Photographs and yes these Can just 'Appear' Overnight. As lovely as they are, I'm So Glad, that you issued a Warning, regarding Eating Them. 'Beautiful But DEADLY' was the Motto I was Taught.........( Yes there are Apparently Russian Recipes For Preparing Fly Agaric, Chance It At Your Peril, basically Just DON'T!)
