I had PND with my daughter in 2016 and I find myself here again with my newborn son. I’m on day 4 of sertraline 25mg and due to increase to 50mg from tomorrow.
People keep saying “you’ve been there before you know you can get through it again” like that makes it better or something but I just feel rock bottom.
Panic is gripping me since starting the sertraline it feels like someone has hold of my heart, I’m sweaty, jittery, nauseous and scared I’ll never get better. I want to hide in bed until this is all over but can’t due to two little ones to look after.
Mother in law is staying with us as I don’t feel able to be alone so that’s a great help.
Realistically I know I need to give the medication longer to work but would be encouraged by any success stories or experiences from other people either with PND or taking sertraline.

Hi,, I have been taking steraline for 3 months and now coming off it, I have taken antidepressant medication for years on and off but found steraline stopped me eating and sleeping! I have lost 2 stone and was getting 3 hours sleep a night .. the more I took the worse it got!! The doctors also prescribed it to my husband because he’s got a obesity problem and they said it would help him control his eating.. it hasn’t stopped him sleeping but it’s helping him control his food intake. I wasn’t over weight to start with but I am now under weight!! So it works well for some but obviously not me, I hope you feel better soon.
I'm sorry to hear you have PND, it really is not what you need at this time, but as your hormones settle again you will start to feel more your old self.
Post partum is no one's business but yours!!! I am very aware of the slightest med change, if you feel it don't hesitate to speak your mind. Other people opinions at this time don't matter but you DO!!! And if that means it isn't helping keep speaking up. Some people take forever to accepted changes while some of us it is instant. Don't ever stop speaking up❤
