I had a really shitty experience with a psych recently. I went in to tell them that I’m experiencing higher level of anxiety to which they were very dismissive about. They then proceeded to prescribe me meds that didn’t work before in the past so that left me confused as to why I they were necessary but then After I gave some more details on what I was feeling they then told me that there was nothing wrong with me because the psych couldn’t see it with their own eyes even though I was experiencing and feeling it. I know that this isn’t a really a great way to give help to the patient since the psych is not the patient. it just make me feel invalidate but it also discourages me in finding proper help.
I know that not all psychologists are like and that psychologist are not counselors also but with the past ones I’ve had, it really does feel like I’m just another patient on a conveyor belt, like no attention is paid to how I’m feeling.
I’m kinda just posting here to vent but has anyone else had similar experiences and does anyone know how to vet a psych? I’m currently in houston tx and I’m looking.
