I live upstate NY. Its not Colorado or Minnesota but we do get our fair share of the white stuff. The best part of this neck of the woods is that no matter what's going on we always have the same exchange even with strangers: "Could be worse." Answer: "Could be snow."
So we endure a rainy summer in the hopes that it will get it all out of its system before the temperatures drop. "Could be worse."

Yup….ex northerner here. Who has the privilege of shoveling out your driveway when the It Could Be Worse Comes? I loved it when I was a kid, but my dad would go into depression during winter. Moved to Florida and all was good. (Kinda) I love the North. Beautiful.
I'm not upstate NY but we compete every year with you guys for snowiest records and about 4 years ago it was hands down ours as we got 13 feet of snow in 22 hours. We dug out for weeks. I hate when it's too hot and muggy but it's always said, it could be snowing. lol
Oh I know we have it fairly easy compared to some. But when it snows around here it SNOWS!!! Some winters are very hard and some are so easy you barely notice the weather. I know some places have a tough winter every year. You get used to the snow & develop loads of coping strategies. Someone else shovels my driveway. I used to do it but I'm not as young as I used to be.
That's so funny.... we do say that all the time. I can't tell you how many times I've heard it this summer. We've had so much rain and someone can always be heard saying.... could be worse, could be snow.
Ha ha. But seriously I love it up here. I've got no complaints. Semi-rural area sadly getting more & more built up but if the human race is going to insist on making more babies, we gonna need more housing.
