I’ve been dealing with anxiety and depression for the last five years. I was never actually diagnosed with it because I never visited a psychiatrist. I’ve always wanted to visit one since 2017 but it is difficult to go because of my family and the stigma in our culture. I know I should go because I know I need help but its hard. At this point, things are just becoming more difficult so I decided to find doctors around my area in sites like zocdoc to make an appointment without my family knowing. However, most psychiatrists around my area does not accept my insurance. And I do not have primary doctor. I’m so lost at this point. My anxiety just keeps getting worse and affecting my daily life. Dont know what to do. I actually downloaded this app and joined this support group with a hope it would help me at some point. Any suggestions would help. Thanks.

Well it would help a lot if you told us where you lived! If the USA which state. Members can then give you advice based on their knowledge.
I suggest getting a pcp. They can do more than you think. That's where I started. Sometimes they can manage it and you don't have to see an actual psychiatrist, and no eyebrows will be raised by those around you for seeing a regular Dr. Telling them it's just to get a check up and have a Dr if you need one or get sick is not a lie, and responsible. Who knows maybe getting a Dr will help your anxiety. Also maybe try an online therapist. Therapy and meds usually work best when used together. Pills won't fix everything... something is causing the anxiety. You're on the right track though. Keep seeking don't give up. You can do it. It can get better. I landed here for the same reasons. I've been struggling with my stuff for years, and recently found myself having to handle things differently because if insurance changes. I hope this helps.
Hi mycxyz,
Big hugs to you..it sounds as though you are still finding your journey tough..
The first point would probably be to seek charities in your local area that can support you with your mental health.
Keep spirited- It will get better xx
