Propanolol

Hi I have been seeing alot of posts about certain meds but dont recall any about this one for panic attacks- propanolol. I have been on it twice daily(every 8 hrs) for 1.5 weeks now and I have seen great results so far as long as I take it twice a day. Was curious if anyone else has tried it? It seems like a decent medication thus far but I get everyone reacts different.

Yes , I ve taken those for anxiety and palpitations, they are beta blockers , glad they are helping you

That's so great they're working for you. As a teen, I was given these for severe migraines but they didn't agree with me. I felt spaced out all the time & struggled at school so had to stop taking them.

ugh im sorry to hear. yeah its all hit or miss. idk if they will keep working once i increase my lexapro though. i have intense fear of new meds!

New meds are a bit scary. I'm in my third week of taking amitriptyline & to begin with, I was quite drowsy & had a bit of gastroparesis, but everything seems to have settled. I'm actually able to sleep through the night now for the first time in a long time.I love your screen name btw - He is my foundation.

I’m on propranolol for anxiety but I only take as and when required, more for performance situations. Works fine for me it is a great medication - I only use in worse case situations!

Yes, I've had them in 80mg single dose and 10mg x3 dose. I really cannot say they have ever done anything for me but then medicines have different effects on different patients. I knew someone who took them for flying and swore by them. Me? Bottle of wine as well and I still had no anti-anxiety effects. I'm glad they are working for you. I believe it to be a very safe medication too.

Yes, it was good when I took it, though that was for situational issues like flying. May I ask what dose you take twice a day?

Yes I have been takin it 3 times a day for a month or two now and it deffo helps quickly and strongly with the physical symptoms of anxiety. I also take fluoxetine for my lowMood and find they are working well glad you have found them.

I used to take this , not so much theses days as my panic attacks are much better controlled , for me it used to speed my heart rate up before it would slow it back down x

How much do you take? I'm on Propranolol 60 mg extended release and still have panic attacks..

Is it good for anxiety and panic attacks.? What about it interactions with other medications though? Self care can be really challenging at times and I am not sure what to do. It seems when I think progress has been made that it doesn't last. What medication should I add or drop.? I'm struggling . Trying not to get depressed or to panic or have my anxiety kick in. Have to watch out for blood pressure too.

I have a headache and I'm feeling sick. I need my Fluoxetine and other medications refilled. How long do I need to wait for my med? I think I 'll eat something light and go back to sleep. Don'tike feeling nauseous and dislike vomiting . Other people need help too though so I have to be patient and maybe its not important to take Fluoxetine. Maybe its time to go off of all of my medication and just trust in the Lord.How long could I be sick? Would it be ok? Isn't it like playing Russian roulette though with my health? I better eat something and go back to sleep for awhile. I'm tired. Not thinking clearly.

im currently on 20mg of prop- twice daily 10mg each, it seems to be ok but i need to increase plus increase my lexapro too.

its so hard cause we are all different. what works for one may not and probably will not work for another.

i firmly believe that my faith is the component needed for me to get thru this. between my medications, the lord, therapy, journaling, and posting on here.... for me personally, all of that together seems to be what i need right now. It doesnt stop the anxiety and panic but- it enables me to get thru it all and not be a complete utter wreck at the end of each day.

Thanks. I love my family and I believe that in helping myself as best that I can that I can help my family. I want to help my family. "Do you love me? Feed my sheep? Take care of my lambs."

I'm not going to cry because I'm not a failure and I am still a work in progress and I am worthwhile. I need to stop and be quiet and figure things out.

Just going to rest and hear the music. Sleep and let the symphony take over.

Yes, I have taken it for performance anxiety. It works great for me, so glad my doctor recommended it.

I’ve been on one 40mg dose of propanolol per day for 6 weeks.

Before that, I could feel palpations virtually 24-7.

Now, it’s only when I get extremely stressed that I can feel the palpations.

I do feel fatigued…. Not sure if that’s this drug, the anti depressant I take (100mg Sertraline daily) or part of my condition (workplace burnout).

I took it for migraines and they said it would help my anxiety as well. For a while, it did help with anxiety but only the physical symptoms and not the mental ones. After a few weeks it stopped working all together.

But I know a lot of people who swear by it
