How do you feel with anxiety physically?

I would love to hear personal experiences of how having anxiety makes other feels. I’m trying to decipher if I’m actually having real issues with my heart or head or if these are just anxiety induced.

Do you all ever have shakes, tingling feelings, or feelings of having a heart attack?

I get short of breathe start to hyperventilate which makes my arms tingle and feel like it's hard to move them. My heart beats faster. I get dizzy sometimes. Sometimes I get nauseous but not often. My chest will feel tight sometimes. And I sometimes get dizzy and lightheaded. Sometimes having a panic attack seems like you are having a heart attack but it's just you telling yourself that you are going to die. If you work at using some grounding techniques and breathing exercises to help calm you down the symptoms should fade and if they only appear when you feel anxious it's more than likely anxiety. If you are very concerned you can also get checked. Sometimes that also helps to know that we are not going to die and that it's just our minds being unkind to us. Once you know that you are okay then you can really focus on the issue at hand if that makes sense.

Ooh. I don't know. I used to think that what I was experiencing in my body was anxiety but it turned out to be a medical thing. I still have anxiety but it doesn't cause pain anymore. Hope that helps.

Panic attacks are eerily similar to heart attacks in how they feel, when I had my first panic attack I wondered if I wasn't having some serious medical thing.

Everyone experiences anxiety differently so... don't steal my symptoms and start having them 😛

Physically my anxiety tends to manifest as hyperventilating, a racing heartbeat, tingly/numbness particularly in my extremities, clammy hands, shaking, and sometimes my pupils will dilate/contract (that really used to freak me out). When I am generally anxious I have had issues with muscle tension, sometimes it feels like I have a tight headband on.

If you have sincere concerns it might help alleviate your mind to get checked out by an MD, if they really do find something out of the normal they can address it, if not you can attribute these issues as 'mere' anxiety. Try not to obsess over what might be wrong though, I've had way too many panic attacks myself that started with my worrying over something that ended up being nothing (or just anxiety)

Thank you! I’ve been to the ER 3 times this month for anxiety and I’m really just sick of myself being so anxious. I’ve never had it this bad before

Unfortunately once you have them you may continue to have them until.your better manage them. It is true you have to learn to accept them amd work through them. Sometimes the first bad one may trigger a fee more until you have them better understood Try not to fear them and work them.by diversion, breathing and exercise.

Do you take any meds for it or you naturally work through it?

I have xanax to use as needed. However, I do find ways to cope before turning to meds. Exercise, socialize, phone calls..just about anything to get out of your head.
