Is anyone on here on antidepressants and can you give any guidance/experience? I’m tired of being in pain and think it’s time I start with medication. I’ve been hurting for 6 years now. I don’t want to want to die anymore

Depressed
I’ve avoided antidepressants for years as well until I could no longer handle it myself and resorted to therapy and antidepressants as my last resort in 2019.
Based on my experience, going on antidepressants was and is still hard because they basically do trial and error until they find what works for you. And what unfortunately comes with that are side effects and withdrawal effects that may or may not be severe/uncomfortable.
If you are feeling suicidal, I would suggest getting help and trying the antidepressants out. Your doctor will try to find what works best for you. I only went on antidepressants because I became overly suicidal.
Hi 👋 it’s Shnookie. Sorry 😐 that U R yosuffering. I’m ADHD and bipolar. I’m 62 and have been on a Med cocktail since 1998. The meds have been tweaked over the years but have worked most of the time.
It might be a case of trial and error until your therapist finds the right combination 4 U. I would also recommend that U call the Suicide Prevention Hotline. I don’t have suicidal ideations but needed their advice on how to approach the process of people who say they don’t want to live anymore when I go into our chat room. They R very nice and helpful. I’m here 4 U

Hi,
There is a lot of information available online about starting medication for mental health concerns.
I my experience, medication needs to be combined with some supportive talking therapy.
Your primary care doctor will be able to do this or recommend someone for you.
I have put two of the websites that I recommend to potential takers here for you to consider.

self.com/story/first-time-a...
All the best from me as you start this journey
Hi there! Hard place to be, but there is hope! You can also consider genetic testing to see which mental health drugs may work best with your genetics! I know Genesite is one as well as Gene folio. It will give you must avoid, use with caution and best options. Most insurance cover it!!
Good luck to you! Please reach out for help if you feel you are in a desperate place🙏🏼
