Hey all, been dealing with bad anxiety since the 15th of December. Got on buspirone for a little over a month then started on cymbalta last saturday after an episode where I couldn't sleep and started having very bad intrusive thoughts. Still having intrusige thoughts rather often and starting to fear I am going manic as a result. Is that just my anxiety talking? Never had any manic diagnosis before just anxiety and depression.

Anxiety and feeling/fearing you're going manic.
Hi TrippyMcGuire, anything in particular start your anxiety to scale in December?
While on medication, it's best you talk with your prescribing doctor regarding these
2 meds that you are on. The fact that you never experienced manic tendencies could be that the drugs are causing these feelings too grow. Since you just started on the Cymbalta on Saturday that doesn't sound like enough time to see a difference. But if you are getting worse it's best to talk with the doctor. Possibly a dosage change may help.
I wish you well my friend xx
Think I mentioned a while back, lost my best friend since kindergarten on the 8th. Had health issues, and a bunch of other things on top of that. But yeah. Trying to get calmed down on the cymbalta, just hope it doesn't take like 6 months like when I was on sertraline three years ago.
I'm sorry to hear about your loss. These are very stressful and confusing times we are living through. (I thought anxiety was bad) I've never been on either medication so not sure the length of time needed to feel relief. It might be a matter of the doctor adjusting your dosage.. I hope you feel better sooner than later. Wish you well Trippy xx
Hey Trippy, I think that what you’re feeling is due to the medications. I was looking through my pharmacology textbook and what you described seems to be some of the possible effects.
I would bring up the effects to your doctor if they get to the point of being unbearable. It could be a matter of adjusting dosage like Agora suggested or a matter of changing the medication itself entirely.
The important thing is that you find something that works the best for you with side effects that you can tolerate.
I’m not saying that doctors don’t know what they’re doing (not at all what I’m get at) but because the effects are different for everyone, it can take a while to figure out what works through trial and error.
I hope that this either passes or that your doctor helps you find something that truly helps you.
Take care and be gentle with yourself 🤗🖤
Are you having grandiose thoughts? For example you think you have superpowers or anything weird like that?? If not, you're probably not manic. Sorry if I stressed you out the other day. Just wanted to let you know that can happen to people.
p.s. hope you feel better soon.
It wasn't your comment that made me feel that way. I just am full anxiety brain right now and worried about everything imaginable at the moment I think.
Hello friend, as someone who is having similar difficulties as yourself, let me tell you-DON’T WORRY. When I had intrusive thoughts I found it terrible. But it got worse overtime that finally I sought medical attention and was started on medication. Things have improved since but I still suffer. Drugs may take time to act. However if it all things get uncomfortable don’t hesitate to go to the doctor. Things will get better. YOU ARE NOT ALONE.
