All cliché sounds good to me and “love yourself first “ is one of them. People walk around and throw that advice to people clearly lost of themselves to begin with. It makes no sense to me.
First, you have to learn to love yourself and meditation will get you there. One has to begin NOT by loving oneself, because you don't even know who you are. Who are you going to love? If you start by loving yourself, you will love only your ego which is your false personality. Almost everyone loves his ego so much that he believes untruthful, shallow compliments from others. Meditation will help you learn to love yourself. If you meditate, slowly, you will get out of the ego and out of your personality. You will realize your real self, love will come on its own.
A man who loves himself and respects himself respects others too. He becomes aware that we are not different; as far as the fundamentals are concerned, we are one. The man who loves himself enjoys the love so much, becomes so blissful, that the love starts overflowing, it starts reaching others. It has to reach! If you live love, you have to share it. You cannot go on loving yourself forever because one thing will become absolutely clear to you: that if loving one person, yourself, is so tremendously ecstatic and beautiful, how much more ecstasy is waiting for you if you start sharing your love with many many people!
I used to not love me, I didn’t even like myself not even a little....well that’s what depression and anxiety told me anyways.
My human instinct all my life was for survival, getting through past traumas has you feel quite small and inadequate to those who are at the root of it all.
It’s taken me so many years to get to this point, I’m still a work in progress. I do love me now, I also share it with those closest to me, I’m able to practice gratitude where once I was stuck on a hamster wheel of despair.

I’m painting a basket. I’m also spray painting pine cones from my other house. The pine tree always produced the most beautiful red pine needles and Perfect shaped cones. I took some with me.

I completely agree with you. You can't go straight from disliking yourself to loving yourself, I wish it was that easy.I think starting with something like respect is much better and learning to recognise qualities such as being strong a it's very hard living with mental health issues etc.

I’ve had a decent day considering my night. Productive, my nap is coming too. Hubs grilling me a steak, it’s springtime weather, but it ends as quickly as it came.

We already done that acceptance stuff.....we’re ahead of the curve with mental illness.......first rule of mental illness is to accept your mentally ill 🤪....then start throwing out that love ....wait and it bounces back.💚

An excellent post KoKo. My yoga teacher says it quite often, love yourself. How many years had I spent telling myself I was thick and useless, I don't anymore.

Yes I do and I think it may be a while yet before it all starts again.
It's been beautiful here but no powerwalk as our eldest daughter who lives on her own came out and we played a game.
