do you REALLY have to lose weight or is your body image just distorted? think to yourself, have I actually gained an unhealthy amount of weight from binge eating? you can do many other things to make you happy besides eating but if it becomes an issue you may want to consult a health professional.
As a habitual comfort eater, I can very much relate. It's good to try and lose wieght but you shouldn't beat yourself up for comfort eating. Eating is deeply cathartic and while it probably isnt good for me (or anyone) long term, in the short term it can help us get some energy back. Something I do that helps a little is I try to control what I go for when I comfort eat. I try to choose things that have fewer calories. You dont't have to lose alot of wieght at once, that's a physiologically unrealistic goal but if you just take it slow and do little things here and there, and most importantly be kind to yourself you can do it. I've done this and lost some weight, not alot, but little successes can really help.

You are not alone with eating when depressed. People either overeat or lose their appetite. I lose my appetite but I know so many that look for comfort in food when they are depressed or anxious. May I ask if you are sure you need to lose weight or has someone told you that? The perception we have of ourselves is often not what others see of us or what is true. Does your doctor feel you need to lose weight?
