Hi there, I just want to say that it must be difficult to feel different and worsening of your depression or anxiety. I’m sorry you are going through this. I just want to let you know your symptoms are common in depression. Maybe you can make short term goals to help with this, start with following through with your errands then go up from there.

Depression can be eased by expressing yourself and engaging in pleasurable activities.

Just remember another symptom of depression is having a distorted self image or perception of yourself. This is depression, not who you really are.

What meds do you take for your pain? Or nonpharmacological pain management for the pain?

You can always go to your pharmacy and bring in a bag with your meds and they will tell you what is necessary or not and even call your provider to discuss it. I’m so sorry about your husband. Losing a loved one is such a terrible and hard thing to adjust to. It sounds like you did everything you could to help him and I think that’s great although it now cost you a lot of aches and pains. I would ask your provider to decrease your dosages of your depression and anxiety meds if you would like to stop using them. In my opinion norco doesn’t seem needed so that’s great that you’re only using it when the pain in severe. Gabapentin and Effexor taken together has similar effects so that combination is great for pain relief ( from what I’ve heard ).

Thanks for sharing your story. I was “trapped” in my home after my son was born. I couldn’t leave the house without major anxiety. I made small, attainable goals for myself such as “today I will walk to my mailbox (which is about 30 ft from my house)”. “Today I will walk to the corner and back”.

I had major anxiety about taking my infant into the store so I made a goal for myself to go to the store with my son, walk in and walk out. No shopping, just go into the store to prove I could do it.. I was able to accomplish this and I recall thinking how proud I was to achieve that goal. It sounds simple, but it was profoundly difficult for me, but achieving those small goals helped.

Exercise is so important and I personally feel such relief by taking a small walk each day, and over time I’ve increased the length of my walk. Start small with seated exercise. Search for seated exercises or seated senior exercise on YouTube. Even if you aren’t a senior, the low impact movement is beneficial for your blood circulation, mood. A small goal could be “today I will do 5 min of seated exercises” . you are worthy. The fact that you came here to share your story shows you are capable of achieving small goals:).

Take it one small step, one moment, one hour, one day at a time.

Hugs

being able to explain why you are feeling this way is probably better left to a therapist/ counselor. Because for most of us there is a whole mix of factors which contribute to it. Do you have a therapist/counselor that you see for your anxiety/depression? If not, is that something you would consider doing?
