Hi I have been put on anti depressants called Setraline one a day 50mg and taking them about 7pm every night hoping they might help me settle at night, the only trouble is I find by midday the next day I feel the effect is subsiding, what is the best time to take these tablets Thank you in advance for your opinion or advice

2 weeks been an experience just adjusting but feel the effect is subtle at the moment and taking the edge off my anxiety so far so good, just sleep issue is an issue

I understand this completely as I use to do the same thing. Sleep is extremely important but you need to feel stable during your awakening hours. You should take the meds to keep you stable during the day and find another outlet to help you sleep. Maybe meditation, or other natural non addicting ways.

I take 100mg of sertraline and I take it first thing in the morning with breakfast. I did a lot of trial and error at first to see when the best time would be for me, and that seemed to do the trick. If I feel troubled at night still and need something to assist with that, I sometimes take 3mg of melatonin, but I would double check with your doctor first!

I guess like you say it’s trial and error so will adjust it to morning and hope it does the trick 👍 thank you for your advice

Hi 33Degree, I agree that dosage as well as time of day you take meds can have

a big effect in how in carries you through the day and night. I was started on my SSRI

while in the hospital and was given it with lunch each day. I kept that schedule and find

that it doesn't cause drowsiness throughout the day but by evening able to get a good night's sleep I do use Meditation 3x a day in addition. Wish you well :) xx

I take one tablet three hour before bedtime and another at breakfast time.

You need to consider your job and relaxing in the evening. You can ask the Doctor for two half doses. Some people take their second dose at lunch time and on in the evening. We are all different
