Praying for Peace
I would say the first step is to quit drinking and start medication and therapy to help calm your mind.
Thx various meds followed by prescriber and counselor - falliing apart - need help
Hi LoveBear, you already know that drinking is not the answer as it is but a temporary
relief (and then you feel worse) Calm mind and inner peace must come from within.
No matter what is happening in your life, we are capable with instilling this feeling.
It take work, patience and time. It's not as easy as popping a pill or lifting a glass but
I can guarantee you it lasts longer and is free.
It's about psyching your mind up with positivety, affirmations, mindfulness . The world
could be falling apart around me, but I am not. It's been worth every minute I put into
self love, hope, belief and living in the present moment.
I hope LoveBear that you search for methods that may help you find the calm and peace
you are looking for. Namaste dear friend xx
I agree with some of this but I've been in the type of depression that you cannot psyche yourself out of with positivity. The type of depression where your mind and body are so tense you can not formulate a rational thought. The type of depression where you cant ever breathe deeply. Type of depression where you are constantly fighting. Sometimes you need medical intervention. Antidepressants truly save people from desperate situations. It shouldn't be the first option but meditation and positive thinking will not do anything if your neurotransmitters are depleted. Celiac disease is a disease for example that can deplete your neurotransmitters. Scientific fact. No amount of positive thinking and meditation will help that individual with celiac induced depression. I'm a big believer in meditation but it doesnt encompass all depression issues. Thanks for reading, I have great respect for you agora and all that you do for people on this website.
IamWeary, I agree with you totally. I have been fortunate to never have experienced
depression. All my replies have to do with overwhelming anxiety and agoraphobia.
I had assumed that LoveBear was speaking of the calm and peace from Anxiety.
I'm glad you clarified what I said so that other's suffering depression don't think there
is a simple fix for it. I believe that depression comes from a different issue that requires
medication and/or specialized treatment. Thank you for the compliment. I so wish I could help with depression. I only respond to things I have experienced myself.
I wish you well. xx
I've dealt with overwhelming anxiety and agoraphobia as well. For me I can say with 100% certainty that meditation and positive thinking would not have gotten me out of it. We all have our individual experiences though. We just cant apply it to everyone elses situation. We can share our experiences but we cant proclaim to know what's best for another individual.
Thank you for sharing your experience.
I'm sorry if I overstepped my bounds.
You are correct, we can't assume everyone responds the same.
I will continue to support people the best I can in hopes that it
may help someone. We live and we learn through each other.
I truly hope you find what you need. xx
You didnt overstep your bounds at all. I just wanted to give you my experience.
You said it very well. I wish as a depressed (clinically) person I could find relief in meditation, deep breathing and positivity. It took a long time to find the right combination of medication to help me get to a normal, functioning place. Thank you, IamWeary, for saying it so well.
Me facing same last 20 years , look for alternative treatment in market ,pills , therapies, regular medicines & pscotherapy not working for me
you are likely headed for the gutter. would be wise to find and attend some AA meetings. Those steps can be very calming. Theraputic if you use them
