I see that my opinions and my reach to relate to others has been censored by administrators. Thank you for selfishly taking what I thought was a safe place to share my thoughts and seek help.

I will not post against the grain again.....I have been corrected 🤫🤫🤫

I believe my opinion may have been detrimental to the opinions of some others on here so My post was removed.

I didn’t see it but I have been down with rejection of meds and I to this day have issues with pharma esp in the US. But I have learned that they have been a lifesaver for some and I don’t walk in their shoes. So there is a fine line between healthy critique and shaming people unintentionally. Recently I started an SSNI because of the extraordinary place I am and then I found out some could be due to thyroid. Nonetheless it has been helpful. So like I said…difficult to walk in someone else’s shoes.

I’m on cymbalta and it worked great at first. Tried buspirone....nothing.

Jumped up cymbalta.....nothing.

No wonder people eat klonopin till they can’t utter a word.

Oh you want weed?!

That will be 10x your normal monthly prescription cost...for a week supply.

What was the next pharmaceutical you wanted to try sir?

After all....the FDA hasn’t approved the cannabis you desire....only the meds with brain zaps and a side of seratonin syndrome.

But hey! At least you can pass a piss test on OUR MEDS.

🖕🖕

in reply to

I understand your frustration especially because the meds can come with a lot of dangerous side effects. But the unfortunate reality is when you have depression you have an imbalance of neurotransmitters and these meds have been shown time again to cause an increase of serotonin which of course, takes away depression if taken consistently. However, marijuana can cause worsening effects on the brain and has been linked to decrease in motivation and there’s not enough evidence showing its effects on depression. If I was a licensed healthcare provider I don’t think I’d feel comfortable freely prescribing that for a patient who is already at risk for substance abuse (b/c they have depression).

in reply to

There is not enough “evidence” because it is still schedule 1 drug classification showing “no medical value”. Studies don’t get subsidized like pharma meds.

The better question is why it is still schedule 1 when half of the country has legal “medical marijuana”

Even tho it has no medicinal value!

Oh that’s right...because of the tax code on weed suppliers.

Serotonin has no factual support in depression either.

It was concluded in a study watching a bunch of monkeys. The more dominant and “successful”monkeys had coincidentally higher seratonin....so the correlation was made.

If you are in the medical field, who was responsible for the literature that educated you? Who passed this info down from the top?

Follow the money always.

Lot of depressed people on meds and therapy around here. You wouldn’t feel comfortable giving a depressed person weed but you would feel comfortable giving them benzos.

Got it.

Waaaay less risky treatment

in reply to

Well no i was wrong, there is a lot of studies on marijuana just not necessarily beneficial things that include deficit in educational outcome and cognitive impairments and memory impairment. When it comes to depression, the studies done on humans showed impairment Endocannabinoid signaling (causing anxiety), impairs the reward process of the brain, and enhances negative emotional memories which can lead to depression. Then again, this is only a few studies. I once heard something about marijuana and seizures but I never found research for it, however, benzos actually stop seizures when a patient is currently having one. That is the number one medications used because it’s effective. There is extensive research on antidepressants not only with brain analysis in mice but also in peer reviewed articles with people, of course.

I think.. you think a lot more critically than I do and you’re a smart guy. The providers job is to focus on evidenced based research and honestly, they work really hard... even as a student we all work hard trying to implement interventions based on evidenced based research for patient safety. This is our entire life. I’m still a student, and I don’t think marijuana is dangerous but I also think that it shouldn’t be prioritized over other antidepressants. That is just my opinion explained and just like starlight was saying, you also have a right to your opinion.

Thank you for the kind words dear...

Do you have any personal experience with any of these substances?

I’m a daily marijuana and duloxetine user currently.

In the past I ate Vicodin for almost 8 years.

I’ve had many different pharmaceuticals but not at heavy rates.

If weed cost me 8$ per month insured like my duloxetine I would be in much better mental shape.

And can you agree that any paid for and positive studies can easily be defamed by lobbied doctors and the pharmaceutical money machine?

Thank you for your time 🙏

in reply toStarrlight

It was about pharmaceuticals and the US logic behind them but there are many on here who support therapy and meds so this is why I believe it was removed.

I will behave from now on

You have the right to your opinion. People can agree or disagree with it but removing it isn’t right.

If it got removed for moderation reasons, they often private message you about it.

Is it possible it was just a technical error?

in reply to_Alex_

No. It was on feed for a few minutes. I even we’ve the posts before and after. When I went in to see if anyone had anything to say it was gone. However I had one “like” on the post. Couldn’t retrieve the post.

Some of these admins do not like me rocking the boat. And we wonder why people lose their minds and feel hopeless.. group of cowards afraid to trigger anyone. I’m sensitive too. I need help and hope too. I came here for a reason and most of it has been positive

Spit it out year zero

No...clue....

I know why it was deleted...just needed proof it wasn’t a glitch. There are comments in response that never reached me too. Comments that I have notifications for that I cannot read. Perhaps support for my “against the grain” post.

Sure, that is possible. I would think that the pharmaceutical companies would benefit from it because they would also be growing their own and disbursing their own THC/marijuana products. Then again, I could be very wrong because I don’t look into stuff like this.

I would like for providers to take on a more holistic approach. A lot of nurses don’t support medications unless we have a combative patient or if their life depends on it. Such as medications to breathe or medications to help the heart work more efficiently. We also don’t benefit at all from giving them meds, if anything it’s more work to have to educate and then monitor how they are progressing.

In order to use more holistic approaches, I think there needs to more solid evidence of these medicinal benefits from marijuana. I know they recommend certain teas to increase serotonin which is a natural product.

Again, this is just my opinion from my own experiences. I do see your perspective in the fact that you are already using it and it’s a financial burden coming out of your pocket. It also seems to be working for you if you continue to use it.

I haven’t used antidepressants but I’ve considered it, studied them, and go through reviews of the medications on this app and I’ve learned a lot about people’s experiences so I could have an idea of the side effects that they don’t teach us in school.

I’ve also had many close friends of mine (all being the men in my life) use marijuana and so I was never against it. I just noticed they were depressed, unmotivated, or anxious. I could never tell you if it was from marijuana or just from the stressors that life brings us, but what I could tell you is the people I’ve met in my new city who do not smoke it or use it at all, they don’t concern me. I still feel sad when I visit back home and see them because it’s almost like I can see this sadness in their eyes... I can’t explain it but I also can’t fix it. Smoking marijuana may help them and get them by but I wonder how they would be if they never started smoking. Then again, they never started smoking for medicinal purposes, they started it when they were young adults to “get high.”

in reply to

If weed was legal people would drop half of the pills they were on. If weed was legal people

Would grow it themselves instead of worrying about having their life flipped upside down over it.

Or they would prob shop local and support the town farmers instead of big box store pharma weed shops.

Do you see the money transfer here?

Do you see the power transfer back to the simple ones to have a choice?

I did find out that my cymbalta does NOT have a recommended step down detox period and I found this out after long term usage.

I missed my meds for two days and get great so I stopped taking them.

Days later came the strange dizzy flashes in my balance...followed by terrible negative manic energy lashing out at loved ones and friends.

Tread carefully please dear.

There is a price to pay for everything . You seem VERY bright and nice thank you
