I’m just curious how old was everyone when they were diagnosed with anxiety? I was 14

I had OCD when I was around 12 or so and a depressive episode about the same time. I'm 67 now, so go figure.

Hi Sierramist,

I can't remember a time, even in my early childhood, when I wasn't experiencing serious anxiety and major depression. I guess the actual diagnosis was made when I was 11. I'm 70 now and nothing has changed with the exception of so many years, most of them filled with far too many traumatic events.

How have you been feeling?

I’ve been feeling okay. I have a doctor appointment tomorrow but I haven’t left the house since February so I’m terrified.

Diagnosed with ADD at 8, depression at 14, anxiety at 24, and a panic disorder and ptsd on my 28th birthday last month. It’s a struggle to manage it all, but I’m learning how to do it better. And when I see how far I’ve come, I feel that much better about the little things I accomplish.

35 for me. Hasn’t gone away, been almost 20 years. Meds help. I would recommend the Genesight test.

What’s the Genesight test?

They take a swab of your saliva and it helps the psychiatrist determine which med will work best for you. Make sure insurance covers it. It’s really expensive otherwise

I started having anxiety around age 11. I didn't get an official diagnosis of generalized anxiety disorder until I was 17. I'm 30 now. Additionally, I was diagnosed with depression two and a half years ago, but looking back I've been suffering from depression just as long as GAD.
