Issue with restarting fluoxetine

Been taking 10mg fluoxetine with 50mg bupropion for many years. Was working well/stable. Well, i got the bright idea of stopping fluoxitine cold turkey, and just take bupropion. I did that for 6 or 7 days. BIG MISTAKE ! I crashed on the 7th day. I immediately re-instated the fluoxetine about 5 days ago, and haven't had relief yet. Will i have to wait 6 to 8 weeks to get back where i was before ? Thanks !

Hi, Stopping this type of med suddenly is not advisable at all. It has to be tapered off gradually while introducing a substitute of some kind. Are you in care of a physician who can guide you with this? It is essential to have guidance in these things. Let me know how you are doing and if I can help in any way. The med should start to work within 2 weeks or less.

Thank you very much ! I haven't reached out to my NP about this yet. I decided to give it a couple more days before i do that. God, i've got every symptom you can think off..depressed, anxiety, weak, flu like symptoms, horrible dread, etc. ! It's weird, because i would have thought there would still be some fluoxetine in my system after only a week off it. Plus, i never stopped taking the 50mg bupropion ! I just hope that restarting the fluoxetine at the same small dose, was the right way to fix this.
