Hi, I am struggling with OCD and I am taking meds. My husband wants to have kids but I am afraid of pregnancy. I don't want my child to be affect by the meds and develop issue or even die at birth.
Anyone would like to share their experience with being pregnant while suffering from mental health issues? Do you regret having kids? Does it make things worst or better? Were they affected by the meds you took while pregnant?
Thank you!

Make an appointment with your GP, take hubby with you and discuss the options openly. Making an informed decision is the best way.
If this gives you any hope, my friend's daughter gave birth to a healthy baby boy 4 / 5 months ago. Her daughter has severe OCD and was prescribed alternative medication for her pregnancy. She was also able to breastfeed for a few weeks but decided bottle was better so she could resume previous medication. She has done remarkably well and her OCD hasn't really flared up to much. I really do not think there is any regret she decided to have the baby.
Of course if there are any other mental health issues then the outcome may be different which is why it is so important to talk with your GP.
Hi, i had a healthy son whilst taking prozac a 40mg. x
Hello Moon_B,
Being pregnant and having children during a pandemic is not a good idea.
Bring your husband to your next psychiatrist appointment (or to whoever prescribes your meds) and discuss all your concerns rationally. Your concerns are important! Becoming a parent is the most stressful situation in existence. Your mental health must come first. If your husband still insists on biological children, he is selfish and unfit to be a parent. If this is the case, seriously reconsider your relationship with him.
The best person to answer this question is your OB/GYN. Some medications are fine during pregnancy but as most of us know, everyone is different and one person may have no problem while someone else may not be able to take medications while pregnant. This, in my opinion, is between you and your doctor. There is nothing like being a mom, I will say that!
