Anxious about applying for a job. Anyone else?

Does anyone else go through this? You’re applying for a job and sprucing up your resume and as you’re looking closer at the job description...you start doubting yourself. Like damn.. can I actually do that? But in reality you know you have done some of this stuff before and that maybe you ARE qualified? idk maybe it’s just me. I guess the job is kind of a step up from what I’m used to but something I can learn.

I have done a couple of receptionist jobs data entry/admin helper type of stuff but obviously an administrative assistant it’s more intense.

Am i just talking myself down? Probably 🙃

Hi Angel: I believe you can do it. Easy for me to say, right? We ALL doubt ourselves and I feel like a hypocrite because I must be the biggest self-doubter of all. I think if you've done receptionist work before and a company hires you as an AA, you will be fine. Again, easy for me to say. Maybe this will make you feel better: First you say "Anxious about applying for a job." That isn't where MY anxiety comes from. Applying isn't the problem for me. Once I get the job is the problem. Now that I have the job, I know (or I feel) I can lose the job. That fact stresses me out. But, back to you. All you can do is apply and I would apply to one job after another. I belong to a jobsite where people write in and many people will apply for A job and then sit and wait. I don't do that. I apply for the jobs I am qualified for, all of them. Even some for which I may not have every single thing the job requires. A company knows it will be doing at least some training with whomever they hire. I've also noticed, in my career, how a job description includes so much! Then, once you get the job, you realize that they've included everything that you could possibly do but you don't do everything on a daily basis. As long as you have your resume in order, some questions and talking points to raise the day of the interview, maybe include some work samples you have, that would be great. Also taking notes as your interviewer talks is a good thing. Another HUGE thing is look at the company website before sending your resume. Include something about the website in the first or second line of your cover letter. That grabs their attention fast, makes them sit up and take notice. Also, use the same verbiage in your resume and cover letter that they have used in the job description. Let's say your resume says "Strong organizational skills" and the job description says "Excellent organizational skills." Change your word to "excellent", things like that. This has been a long response, probably, but the process of applying for the job boils down to just a few things. 1) Have a strong resume and cover and map BOTH to the job description (as I did in the above example.) 2) Grab their attention by commenting on something you saw on their website. 3) Make CERTAIN you have no spelling or grammar or punctuation errors. 4) Sign off on a positive note: Thank you for your time. If you feel my skills align with your mission and vision for this role, you my reach me at xxx-xxx-xxxx." And then sign off with "Respectfully, Angel Smith." Or you can do "Yours truly, Angel Smith." I am on this site today because I just accepted a very good job, very good paying and close to home. I am freaking out because I'm worried I'll do something to screw the job up. So that is my problem. I hope I have helped you somewhat with yours. Good luck!!

Yes I do that too.

I have even got hired and quit because ei didn’t feel good enough. Sad because I got the interview and I got hired. So why would I think I’m not good enough? Lol.
