Anxiety and Working Out

Hello Everyone:

I asked this question before but I misplaced that post. I have Health Anxiety and this week I started to get back into working out to help my anxiety. But I am getting discouraged because I feel like it's counter productive because I have a good work out in the morning. Then the triggers I am trying to over bring up symptoms, especially in the chest area and my blood pressure increases. So I feel discouraged because I am trying to be healthy but at the same time being triggered is ruining that. Any advice?

I've been trying to get back n the workout mode but since my heart episode n April, I worry about the racing heart & the blood pressure. With that I still sit on the couch & just think about workn out.

Are you starting out trying to do too much too quickly? Exercise can either lower blood pressure OR raise it, depending on the intensity. Maybe start out at a slower pace and buy yourself a wrist blood pressure machine to wear while you are working out and check it periodically and see how you are doing. Slow and steady wins the race!!
