Any solutions for relief?

Anyone have problems with ruminating thoughts?
I try to write them down with as much description using the least amount of judgmental language as I can muster. For example I might say something like, "I notice I'm feeling overwhelmed right now and I imagine being overwhelmed in the future. I feel sad. I notice the thought that it's a lonely sadness. I feel an aching sensation from my throat down into my belly button. There's also a heaviness in my limbs and neck, like my bones were made of lead instead of bone. I notice the thought in my mind repeating over and over that this will never end."
Somehow the act of describing brings some relief for me. Better yet if you can share the description of what's creating your sticky brain (as a friend once called it) you may experience even more relief. At least I do. I find it comforting to know someone besides me can read and get a sense of the rumination, that way I'm not alone in my brain.
