Nightmares when not taking medication

I was wondering if anyone else had the same issue. I used to take seroquel before bed to help me sleep. I would be able to sleep just fine for the most part. When I stopped taking it I began to have bad nightmares. This happens every night I fi not take something to help me sleep. Im currently taking benadryl and melatonin before bed and it helps but it gets expensive. I don't want to have to rely on them but I also really don't want constant nightmares. I've tried to tell my dr and therapist but they both seem to just want to smile and nod then move on. Im not sure what to do anymore.

Hi, something to try with nighmares, when you wake up, try and complete the story into a positive spin. for example if you are being chased by a monster and wake up... imagine the monster suddenly turns into ice cream and melts on the pavement, then gets eaten by a cute puppy. HTH

I wish I had something for you, friend. I have nightmares or bad dreams almost every night with or without sleep aids. Without the sleep aids I wake up 3 - 4 times a night. With them I sleep through the night, but still have the nightmares. Its exhausting.
